Symptom

You are trying to import a database dump into your database here. The import aborts with the error message: "#1044 - User 'loginname'@'localhost' has no access permission for database ''".

Cause

Your database dump file has a "USE" statement followed by the name of the database on the old server where you created the dump. At the beginning of the import, the database is therefore instructed to use the database with the name . However, since the database is not named here, the system cannot access it and responds with the access error.

Solution

The USE statement must be removed from the dump so that the dump can be imported into a new database of any name. Edit your database dump file with a text editor. Remove the line "USE " and save the modified file. Now start the import again.
